God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

What a great honor it is to be called a friend of the sovereign all-powerful God. Scripture teaches us to have reverential fear of God and to be in awe of Him (Proverbs 1:7). It also teaches us, in today’s scripture, for example, that we are also called His friends; therefore, God can be our friend.

Some people never experience an intimate relationship with God because of the way they see Him. He is not sitting in heaven waiting to punish us every time we make a mistake. Although He can and does become angry with sin, He is not an angry God. He is love, and He loves you! He is quick to forgive and generous in mercy.

You can talk to God about absolutely anything. Be assured that He will understand you and never reject you. I urge you to begin to be more aware of the fact that God is present with you at all times and to develop the habit of talking with Him throughout the day about everything you do.

Prayer of the Day: Father, I am grateful to know that You see me as Your friend, and I want to see You the same way, as my friend. Please draw me closer to You and teach me to grow in friendship with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
