Hurricane Maria’s devastation left thousands displaced, 50 or more dead and nearly the entire island of Puerto Rico without power or running water. We partnered with Convoy of Hope, New Life Covenant Church and Tommy Miranda Ministries to provide vital relief.
A few of the ways our teams served the island of Puerto Rico: reaching out to the homeless, bringing food, water and fuel to people in need, visiting families throughout the island, bag and distribute supplies and more. Pastor Choco, from New Life Covenant shared just how bad the situation is: "imagine sewer water filling the streets and sidewalks, up to people's porches...now imagine people who cannot manage maneuvering through that sewage (elderly, people with babies), stuck in their homes...with that stench."
Hear from David Meyer, CEO of Hand of Hope, who visited San Juan, Puerto Rico with Convoy of Hope:
When you give a gift you're helping reach those very people. Thank you for joining with us and helping so many who been slammed by this powerful storm.
We do not need to strive for power or hope to have power someday; we have power now! The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us (see Rom. 8:11) and we can be quickened (filled with life) by that power. This is not a onetime filling that slowly drains out of us as the days go by, but we can be filled day by day and even moment by moment. We can constantly and continually experience God’s presence and power in our lives. When we belong to Him, there is never a time when His power is not accessible to us.
