Books

The books and other written materials of Joyce Meyer Ministries play an important role in helping to facilitate our goal to reach every nation, every city, every day. Our printed resources are truly making a difference in the lives of many worldwide who often live in nations closed to the Gospel and who are desperate for Christian teaching.

One area of the world that reflects the importance of our books is Indo-China. Indo-China refers to the countries situated along the Mekong River, which includes China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand. Our vision is to see people from these countries—some of which are closed to the Gospel—trained, equipped and sent out to evangelize their own people.

Reaching China
John Richardson is the director and cofounder of Target Ministries. We have changed his name for this article in order to protect his safety and the work he is doing in China. For more than 20 years, he has seen firsthand what it’s like to live as a Christian under these difficult circumstances.

“The truth is, they just don’t have the ability to be trained unless we go and help them,” says Richardson. “They don’t have access to Bible schools, and they can’t go to study at a seminary. What a lot of people don’t understand about the situation in China is that people just can’t go to a bookstore and buy books. They only have what we give them. They don’t have another way of getting materials to read. And so we have to be very strategic and plan what kinds of books we’re going to give to people so that it will help them the most.”

We have helped fund and facilitate the printing of 10 of Joyce’s books in various dialects of Mandarin Chinese. Through Target Ministries, they have made their way into the hands of key Christian leaders and people of influence throughout China. What most people take for granted—a simple book—is received by these believers with tremendous interest and consideration.

“The way it works in China is so fascinating because they don’t have a lot of other input,” says Richardson. “Whatever we give them has a very deep impact on their lives—and that’s what we’re seeing with these materials. They read them, they study them, and then they really apply what they read. Because for them, it might be the only thing they are going to see for the next year that has any spiritual value.

“I just want to encourage the supporters and the partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries that the materials which are given are going a long way…they are having such an impact on the work of God in this nation.”

It costs approximately 70 cents to put one book in the hands of a person in China. So far, we have been reaping dividends greater than we ever imagined. Not long ago we translated, printed and distributed 20,000 of Joyce’s book titled Peace. These books allowed the believers in China to present the Gospel in a very simple way that has been used to bring many people to Christ.

In the end, Target Ministries estimated that 4,000 people were added to the church as a result of these 20,000 books!

Sending the Message Around the World
Friends and partners, your support has allowed us to distribute Joyce’s books free of charge to so many nations in need. For example, when the tsunami struck in 2004, we distributed 100,000 of Joyce’s books along with food and humanitarian aid to those affected in Southern Thailand. Another example occurred in 2007 when the country of Peru was hit with an earthquake. Many people were temporarily displaced in refugee camps, and we were able to provide books as a source of comfort to them.

Only in heaven will we truly know the impact we are making in the lives of so many who need our help.
