Our Response to the Earthquake in China: How You Can Help

Immediately after we heard about the powerful 6.9 earthquake that hit China’s Qinghai Province, we began praying for the people in this mountainous region. There, the nights can get very cold, so we also began working with local missionaries to provide shelter and vital supplies needed to withstand such temperatures.

Relief efforts are focusing on the smaller villages that were destroyed. Reaching these villages allows the pastors and church workers to share the love of Jesus with these victims as well as provide for their practical needs.

Two Ways You Can Help
Please pray for people who have lost loved ones, their homes and their hope. Pray for the nearly 10,000 injured, 300 missing and more than 100,000 who are now homeless.

Prayerfully consider making a donation to support our disaster relief efforts. Your support is what allows us to provide disaster relief around the world, including supporting local ministries and churches in this earthquake-ravaged region.

Chile Earthquake Relief: You Can Help

Our first response when we heard the news of the devastating 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile was to pray for the health, safety and well-being of the precious people of Chile and surrounding areas who have been affected by this disaster. We pray for God’s hand of protection to be on them and on those providing relief as well. One team we work with, Convoy of Hope , already has people on the ground assessing the damage and is beginning the process of distributing food, water and supplies. We are also supporting the work of a local church in Santiago, Chile, La Casa del Senor (The House of the Lord) to provide immediate relief to those affected.

Two Ways You Can Help
First, please join us in prayer for peace and restoration for the people of Chile in the aftermath of this deadly earthquake and subsequent aftershocks that have destroyed 500,000 homes and killed more than 700 people.

Pray that the resources needed to provide emergency aid will arrive quickly. Also continue to pray for the safety of all those working with Hand of Hope, Joyce Meyer Ministries World Missions; Convoy of Hope; La Casa del Senor and the many other organizations providing relief.

Second, prayerfully consider making a donation to help support our disaster relief efforts. Your donations help us to be on the scene immediately after disaster strikes.

Continuing to Help the People of Haiti

By Ginger Stache – Chief Media Officer

Last night a small aftershock woke us from our sleep. We are staying at the Love A Child  facility in Haiti which is full of children who refuse to sleep inside because there have been so many aftershocks that they live in fear of the indoors.

Today, a 10-year-old girl named Chirania came into the Jesus Healing Center clinic which is paid for by Joyce Meyer Ministry partners. A larger aftershock the day before brought her house down around her and she was in complete shock. Her mother carried her for miles to the clinic and I'm so grateful that you made it possible for doctors to not only see her but to pray for her.

We are honored that you are the kind of people who help, even when it may be inconvenient.

Lending a Helping Hand in Haiti

By David L. Meyer – CEO Hand of Hope

Joyce Meyer Ministries has been partnering with Pat Bradley, founder of International Crisis Aid (ICA) , to provide support to people in need all over the world. After the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti in January, ICA has been working diligently to provide food, water and shelter to the people of Haiti.

ICA is working closely with the United States Marine Corp who is providing tremendous support in the form of heavy equipment, food, water and so much more. They have been able to bulldoze out rubble in a local orphanage created by the earthquake so that shelters could be built for children to stay and have a safe place to sleep. In one day alone, ICA was also able to distribute enough food to feed 24,000 people for the entire day.

One day, one person, one situation at a time, God is using people willing to serve to help bring hope to the people of Haiti. No one person can bring complete restoration, but Marines working with volunteers, just one more example of how working together we are all better!

The Needs Are Still Great in Haiti

By Sherry Burnette – Love A Child Co-Founder

It was just 4 weeks ago that a 7.0 earthquake crushed the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere... Haiti. Leaving buildings collapsed and homes destroyed, it has been agonizing every day to look into the faces of these people who had next to nothing to begin with and then lost what little they had. They are clinging to hope from day to day.

We are still feeding them every day, praying for them, encouraging them and hugging them. We are praying that God will give us a plan to help them put their lives back together. All these wounded people need a home and job. This will take a miracle. They need homes and job training. They need the tools in their hands to start a new life. This must happen for them soon. Rainy season is coming, and if we don't get major help, many more will die.

Thank you for continuing to stand in the trenches with us. Please consider helping the Haitian people with a gift today. Your donation, large or small, will be a blessing.

Pastime Brings Aid to Haiti

By David L. Meyer – CEO Hand of Hope

Much needed relief supplies were sent to the Red Cross in Haiti from Joyce Meyer Ministries to help the victims of the earthquake. These supplies were delivered by Dennis Hammond, a partner with Joyce Meyer Ministries, who used his personal boat, the Pastime, to transport the items. Four pallets of medical supplies, soap, hygiene products and other supplies were brought in along with clothing and bottled water provided by the St. Louis Dream Center.

So many people are helping those who are suffering in Haiti in a variety of ways. This is a great example of the love of God in action. Thanks to all the people like Dennis who show God’s love by doing what they are able to do. God bless you!

Making a Difference in Haiti

[haiti.gif]

The team of doctors and medical supplies, including a portable X-ray machine, sent by Joyce Meyer Ministries to Love A Child, is already making a profound difference in the lives of injured Haitians.

In the above picture, medical staff at Love A Child’s Jesus Healing Center took an X-ray of a patient’s arm to determine if any additional treatment was necessary. The doctors and staff are very impressed with the new equipment and said, “These X-rays are fantastic; you couldn’t get any better from U.S. radiology.” Over 35 X-rays have already been performed with the newly donated X-ray equipment.

Sherry Burnette, co-founder of Love A Child shares, “We are so thankful for the X-ray equipment donated by Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope. It is such a blessing. Thank you for helping our doctors better serve the people of Haiti.”

3 orthopedic surgeons, 1 ER physician, a portable X-ray machine and 904 pounds of medical supplies sent for Haiti relief

With hospitals collapsed throughout Port-au-Prince and scarce supplies, medical care is of urgent concern throughout Haiti. Many injured Haitians are being transported to the Jesus Healing Center, a medical facility we support through Love A Child external link, in Fond Parisien, approximately 30 minutes from Port-au-Prince.

Ways You Can Help:

  • Pray fervently for everyone affected by the earthquake
  • Donate financially. By supporting financially you can bring immediate relief to those suffering.
  • Donate medical supplies. You will find a list of the most needed items and how you can help provide them.

Supplies and Doctors Arrive Safely
Our medical missions’ staff has been working tirelessly to secure relief for this facility. After many hours of phone calls and coordination, we’ve shipped 19,000 pounds of medical supplies to Miami, en route to Haiti—including a portable X-ray machine.

A thank you from Sherry Burnette, cofounder of Love A Child.
On Tuesday, January 19, we sent 3 orthopedic surgeons, an emergency room physician, a Love A Child staff member and 904 pounds of the 19,000 total pounds of medical supplies to help with the efforts following the deadly earthquake in Haiti.

The 3 orthopedic surgeons have already begun performing surgeries at a hospital in the Dominican Republic, near the Haiti border. The ER physician is treating patients at the Jesus Healing Center, and referring those who need surgery to the hospital in the Dominican Republic.

A special thank you to Major League Baseball players Pedro Martinez and Juan Guzman, and their wives, Carolina Martinez and Ana Guzman, as well as Hammond and Associates for all their help. Their support was instrumental and critical to getting the relief in place.

Other Relief Efforts
All of the grocery stores are collapsed as well, leaving people desperate for food and water. Love A Child staff members are taking disaster sacks into the city to distribute. Each sack contains clothing, food, toiletries, and other items to help the homeless and hungry.

We’re also supporting the relief efforts of Convoy of Hope external link, which is currently distributing food and water.

“The situation regarding food and water remains dire,” says Kevin Rose, Haiti director for Convoy of Hope. “The lack of fuel and security issues has made it very difficult to move food around the city. But through our network of partners, we are getting food into some of the most desperate places.”

How to Pray:

  • That God makes a way for the supplies and medical teams to arrive safely in Haiti
  • That many lives are saved and restored as a result of this medical trip
  • People receive food and water quickly
  • Safety and effectiveness of our ministry partners, Love A Child and Convoy of Hope and the many other relief organizations currently providing help
  • That people would come to know Christ and grow in their relationship with Him

Get Involved: Immediate Supplies Needed for Haiti Relief

We have all been stunned by this disaster in Haiti. But thankfully, if we all do our part, we can help in a big way. Love A Child, our ministry partner in Haiti, is caring for those injured in the recent earthquake and are in desperate need of medications, medical supplies and other miscellaneous items.

This is your opportunity to get involved. Come together with your family, office or church and send as many items as soon as possible. No donation is too small. Every little bit helps.

Because many of the hospitals collapsed during the earthquake, Love A Child is treating patients 24 hours a day at the Jesus Healing Center.

Thank you for your support. And please, don’t forget to pray for everyone who has been affected by this disaster.

Our Response to the Earthquake in Haiti: How You Can Help

On Tuesday, January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti. The epicenter was about 10 miles from the capital city of Port-au-Prince causing “a catastrophe of major proportions.”

In addition to the destruction caused by the earthquake itself, aftershocks alone devastated most of the countryside. Buildings and homes collapsed under more than 20 aftershocks with a magnitude of 4.0 and greater.

Our Response to This Crisis
Our first response when we heard the news of this devastating earthquake was to pray for the health, safety and well-being of the precious people of Haiti and surrounding areas who have been affected by this disaster. We pray for God’s hand of protection to be on them and on those providing relief as well.

One team we partner with, Love A Child , is providing relief and aid, which includes food that was shipped to Haiti by the partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our medical clinic in Fond Parisien, the Jesus Healing Center, is also open to the injured.

Another team we work with, Convoy of Hope , already has people on the ground assessing the damage in Port-au-Prince. A development team is also on the way to provide continued relief, which may include the distribution of food, water and supplies.

Two Ways You Can Help
First, please join us in prayer for peace and restoration for the people of Haiti in the aftermath of this deadly earthquake. Pray that the resources needed to provide emergency aid to desperate children and families arrive quickly. Also continue to pray for the safety of all those working with Joyce Meyer Ministries Hand of Hope, Love A Child, Convoy of Hope and the many other organizations providing relief.

Second, prayerfully consider making a donation to help support our disaster relief efforts. Your donations help us to be on the scene immediately after disaster strikes.

Thank you for helping rescue the children and families devastated by this disaster.
