Your flesh can't keep you happy, so stop trying to keep it happy. OBEY THE SPIRIT, and the desires of the flesh will die.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] —Galatians 5:24,25

THE APOSTLE PAUL did not minimize the fact that the flesh with its passions and lusts will be a challenge to the believer. But he is adamant that you put to death the deeds of the flesh.To have received Jesus Christ by faith is the first gigantic step you take in doing that. You saw the evil in your own selfishness, and in repentance you moved to kill the flesh. Jesus Christ cannot come into your life as Lord without the crucifixion of sin. The fact that the flesh still troubles you does not change what has been done. The power of this new life is in the indwelling Holy Spirit. Live by His power and keep yourself walking in line with Him, and you will remain free from the self-life of the flesh, and Jesus will be formed in your character.
