What is geolocation and

what do we use it for?

Geolocation is a tool we use to determine which of our offices services your area by identifying the country from which you are currently accessing our bookstore. If this is not the correct country, just change the location to the country you’re in. For further assistance, contact our office.

Join us July 8 -15, 2017 as we return to majestic Guatemala for our fourth clinic with our partners The Shalom Foundation. We are excited to be partnering with The Shalom Foundation, who is based in the heart of Guatemala City.

Why go to Guatemala?

  • Half of the population is under 19 years old (making it the youngest population in Latin America). It is a country of children who are in need of medical care*
  • Almost 60% of the people live below the poverty line (15% lives in extreme poverty) — hundreds of thousands exist in extreme poverty*
  • Due to chronic malnutrition, disease and severe lack of medical services, Guatemala holds the third highest stunting rate in the world* (Over 40% of children under 5 are chronically malnourished)
  • Over 40% of the population lack access to any healthcare services* (Only 9.3 physicians to every 10,000 people)
  • Guatemala has the highest child mortality rate in Central America*
  • The needs for medical and dental care are extreme and urgent*

Medical and dental outreaches will take place in and around Guatemala City. During the outreach we will help many of the sick and hurting who would otherwise go without the treatment they need. We will set up a general medical/dental clinic and treat the patients’ needs as they present. We will also pray with all of our patients’ and give them an opportunity to receive Christ. The team will be staying in a hotel, based in Guatemala City.

The schedule* for this outreach is:

  • Saturday, July 8 - Depart home city; meet the team in Miami and fly together to Guatemala City, Guatemala. (This is a US departure date, other countries may vary) Arrive in Guatemala. Team orientation
  • Sunday, July 9 - Church in the morning, pack medication
  • Monday, July 10 - Medical/Dental Clinic in rural Guatemala
  • Tuesday, July 11 - Medical/Dental Clinic in rural Guatemala
  • Wednesday, July 12 - Medical/Dental Clinic in rural Guatemala
  • Thursday, July 13 - Medical/Dental Clinic in rural Guatemala
  • Friday, July 14 - Medical/Dental Clinic in rural Guatemala
  • Saturday, July 15 - Free time/Shopping, depart for home. Arrive home city

*This is a tentative schedule and is subject to change at any time

If you would like to stay longer than the scheduled outreach dates for your own leisure you are welcome to make those travel arrangements with the travel agent at the time of booking. You will be responsible to make all of your own travel arrangements and hotel accommodation after July 15 when the team checks out of the hotel.

Please pray about what your involvement is to be – contact us at medicalmissions@joycemeyer.org right away if you would like to attend this outreach and we will email you an application. Once you are an approved volunteer, you will not need to resubmit an application for additional outreaches.

If you have not filled out an application and been approved in the past for an outreach, your first step will be to submit an application to us before you put down a $300.00 non-refundable deposit.

The $300.00 non-refundable deposit is needed in order to secure your place on the team once your application has been approved. The deposit is placed toward your total trip cost. Upon acceptance to the Guatemala team, we will provide you with the information to book your airline ticket. Hand of Hope will pre-select the team flight and we work closely with a travel agent who will coordinate the team’s itineraries. It is required to book your team travel through the travel agent we provide.
Cost for Food, Lodging, Ground Transportation, Interpreters, Hand of Hope T-shirt, and Travel Health Insurance: $1,200. Estimated airfare is $1,100 depending on your departure city. The registration is paid to Joyce Meyer Ministries, and you will pay the travel agent we use directly for your flight. Estimated Total Cost: $2,300.
