In countries like Greece, Ethiopia and America, thousands of women and children every day are forced into human trafficking by being lied to, deceived and ultimately stolen from anything normal for them. They're promised a better life, a good-paying job…maybe even freedom from poverty.
No matter how they get there, it is still one of the most inhumane forms of injustice our world has ever seen.
Fortunately there are organizations that have answered the cry of this injustice and are making strides to help rescue victims from this form of modern day slavery. We’re committed to doing everything we can to rescue these girls as well as support other organizations working tirelessly to do the same.
We believe our feeding programs and children’s homes are also an extension of this outreach—helping vulnerable children receive the help they need before they can be thrown into this horrific lifestyle.
United States: Partnering with the Los Angeles Dream Center, we funded the building of a home for women rescued from the streets of Los Angeles. The Dream Center works with local and state agencies to rescue the women and offer them safety from pimps and handlers.
India: In 2008, we opened Prem Kiran Transformation Center in Mumbai, India. Through our feeding program in the red-light district of Mumbai our workers establish relationships with the children and their mothers, many who are prostitutes. We then offer them a chance at a new life, free from this lifestyle. The Center is a five building complex with women’s and children’s living quarters. It can house up to 100 women and 50 children.
Thailand: In 2010, we fully funded the construction of Gabrielle House. This home is a refuge for the women we’re able to rescue. Currently 20 women and 2 children live in the home.
Ethiopia: The red-light district of Addis Ababa is home to thousands of women trapped in the commercial sex industry. We’ve partnered with International Crisis Aid to reach these women and offer them a new lift at one of two homes funded by Hand of Hope. We are currently caring for 30 women.
Greece, Ukraine & Bulgaria: We’ve partnered with The A21 Campaign to rescue women in Eastern Europe. Greece has been labeled “The Human Trafficking Hub” in Europe, so with it’s headquarters in Thessoloniki, A21 is strategically positioned to reach as many girls as possible.
Cambodia: The She Rescue Home in Cambodia is a place for young girls to escape the industry. They receive counseling, medical attention and vocational training.
Lesotho: We’ve partnered with the Beautiful Dream Society, a group of individuals, organizations and government officials, who’s committed to abolish this injustice in Lesotho and Southern Africa. They work to raise awareness, take legal action and offer rehabilitation to the victims. More than 15 have been rescued so far.
YOU CAN HELP: Your support can help us care for more women and children.
Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
