What is geolocation and

what do we use it for?

Geolocation is a tool we use to determine which of our offices services your area by identifying the country from which you are currently accessing our bookstore. If this is not the correct country, just change the location to the country you’re in. For further assistance, contact our office.

Christy Nockels

As the daughter of a pastor and a piano teacher, Christy’s heart was infused at an early age with a love for both music and God's Word.

During Christy’s childhood, there was a plaque on a wall in her house that read: "CHRISTY, follower of Christ. Psalm 37:4-6. " On the back, her mom had written: "If Christy gives her heart to Christ, he will show her where to go. "

Christy believed those words to be true. So she held up her heart, and God has been giving it dreams and holding it high ever since.

Duo with Destiny
In 1995, Christy and her husband Nathan began writing songs together, and a year later they made an album entitled "Holy Roar " under the name Sons & Daughters.

A year later, Christy and Nathan moved to Texas to lead worship. They were soon discovered by Rocketown Records and eventually signed a recording contract as Watermark. In 1998, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

As Watermark, Christy and Nathan recorded five albums and a journey full of songs, including several #1 radio singles. They also received numerous Dove Awards nominations.

An Unexpected Turn
In 2005, Christy and Nathan took their professional duo off the road to spend more time with their young family. It was a matter of necessity and trust—an end to a rewarding season in pursuit of something unknown but even more important than recording success.

"God began to peel the layers back, to reorganize my mind and my world, so I could begin to see all that he was doing through me."

It was during this revealing season that Christy became even more convinced of her calling.

"My cause in life is to be a songwriter for my generation to proclaim Jesus’ renown," she says.

But what she didn’t know was how to pursue that desire while fulfilling her highest calling.

"When I didn’t think I’d ever record again on a label, He showed me, ‘Christy, if you focus on your children and your husband, I will take up your cause."

In 2008, Passion Conferences Founder Louie Giglio and his wife Shelley shared an opportunity with Christy to sign with sixstepsrecords as well as be part of the church they were launching in Atlanta. Christy knew that this was the unexpected turn for which God had been preparing them.

Lighting Life Up!
After moving to Atlanta in July 2008, Christy began recording song ideas into her iPhone. She began dreaming of melody lines, waking up in the middle of the night to take notes. The songs just kept coming and coming.

Through sixstepsrecords, Nathan produced those songs as Christy’s solo debut "Light Life Up," which became the "real-life at worship" result of this season of refocus, desire and confirmation.

"More than ever before, the songs I found myself writing were responses to things going on around us," Christy says of "Light Life Up." "It was amazing confirmation, and out of that came a trust that I can still lead my generation and be a mom..."
