 HOPE COMES TO CAMBODIA
Joyce Meyer Ministries extended a hand of hope to Cambodia, a nation still living in the shadow of a 1970s genocide, where more than 2 million people were brutally murdered. Hope Cambodia—30 Days of Hope, ran from July 14 to August 12, and brought exactly what this country needs—hope and courage in Jesus Christ.
Even though it took place during the rainy season, volunteers’ hearts were not dampened. More than fifteen churches and highly effective ministries from around the world partnered with us and more than 800 volunteers participated. Words cannot express how thankful we are for each one of these groups and the tremendous part they played in this enormous effort. God worked remarkably through our united outreaches to help begin healing in this broken land.
-Hillsong London led the weekend kickoff that drew over 6,000 people in attendance. Several thousand surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, and each person received a Joyce Meyer book on the love of God.
-More than 9,000 patients received care through our medical and dental outreaches. We are also committed to bringing long-term health care and have already begun construction of a hospital. We will soon launch a mobile medical clinic offering free treatment.
-Fifteen Hope Centers were built and will offer feeding programs and educational opportunities for hundreds of needy children. In addition, ten of our Hope Centers will include orphanages to help rescue at-risk children from the streets.
-More than 10,000 prisoners were visited and given a love-filled hygiene gift bag that included items such as soap, shampoo and one of Joyce’s life-changing books.
-Seven hundred leaders were trained by Michael Shepard and David L. Meyer using EQUIP’s Million Leaders Mandate, a program that will continue for the next three years.
-More than 1,500 children’s workers were trained and given materials for outreach.
-Hope festivals were held in the cities of Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, and Phnom Penh.
One of the most powerful festivals took place in Phnom Penh where the government intervened and turned off the power to the venue. But lack of a sound system didn’t stop Delirious? and Hillsong’s Darlene Zschech from leading thousands in worship in the outside courtyard. Dave and Joyce even climbed the fence to join them, and then Joyce preached her message with a bullhorn.
Because of your partnership, in just thirty days, Joyce Meyer Ministries was able to minister to more than 160,000 people with over 54,000 asking Christ into their hearts. Thank you for your heartfelt prayers and generous financial gifts. We could not have helped thousands of lives without you! You helped to touch a nation with the love of God—and it will never be the same.
